Dodd Talks Transparency, Dwells in Secrecy - Big Government

Dodd Talks Transparency, Dwells in Secrecy - Big Government: "That lucrative 2002 transaction came the year after Dodd wangled a full presidential pardon from Bill Clinton on his last day in office for Dodd’s friend and Kessinger’s business partner, New York boulevardier and convicted inside trader Edward Downe. Downe had introduced Dodd and Kessinger, and served as a witness on the deed conveying Kessinger’s 2/3 interest to Dodd for far less than its value. In the 1980s, Downe subsidized and c0-owned a Washington condominium with Dodd until the investigation of Downe’s insider trading began to get hot."

Power Line - Investigate this

Power Line - Investigate this: "Whitacre omitted two facts that rendered his column highly misleading. They are the kind of omissions that constitute securities fraud when made by a company in connection with the purchase or sale of a security or when a company reports its financial results"

House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans Press Release :: Documents Show Companies See Incentive in Dropping Health Coverage

House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans Press Release :: Documents Show Companies See Incentive in Dropping Health Coverage: "“Turns out ObamaCare means if you like your health plan you can lose it. The president didn’t have to actually strong-arm companies into dumping their employee health insurance because his bill carried financial incentives to virtually guarantee that result,” Barton said. “But something’s very wrong when, like AT&T found out, paying $600 million in penalties will allow you to stop paying $2.4 billion for insurance, leaving both workers and taxpayers stuck. I suppose we can’t know for some years how many thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions of workers will lose their company insurance because of health care reform, but I know that it will be a breach of faith for most of them and a tragedy for some.”"

Power Line - Demonizing Goldman Sachs

Power Line - Demonizing Goldman Sachs: "I'm not a particular fan of either Goldman Sachs or Congress, but today's hearing confirms that, given a choice, I'd rather have Goldman Sachs regulating Congress than Congress regulating Goldman Sachs. Goldman's employees are much smarter, considerably more honest, and far more likely to have my interests at heart."

EDITORIAL: Government Motors repayment fraud - Washington Times

EDITORIAL: Government Motors repayment fraud - Washington Times: "General Motors lost $3.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009 and is still struggling to reorganize so the company can try to eke out a profit. This grim reality didn't stop GM from making hay last week for supposedly paying back a $6.7 billion government loan five years ahead of schedule. What was left unsaid was that the automaker used another kitty of taxpayer cash to pay off the earlier government loan. This is an accounting shell game, not progress."

Counter Revolution

Counter Revolution: "No federal government has damaged the American free market more than this one. No federal government has stolen more employment, more freedom, more private property -- from this and future generations -- than this one. No government has created more regulations, more unconstitutional dictates, more -- dare I say it -- slavery than this one."

What the Goldman, Sachs scandal is about Spengler | A First Things Blog

What the Goldman, Sachs scandal is about Spengler | A First Things Blog: "Now, let me see–do I have enough fingers and toes to work this one out?–the governments are issuing gigantic amounts of debt to bail out the banks. The banks are making money levering up this debt, so it looks like there’s no more problem in the financial system. So to reduce the debt of governments, we should tax the banks’ balance sheet, which have ballooned as the banks bought government debt with zero-interest financing from the government, and made lots of profits…"

Earth Day Philly Style - The Philadelphia Bulletin Archives

Earth Day Philly Style - The Philadelphia Bulletin Archives: "Ira Einhorn was arrested for murder March 28, 1979, the day the Three Mile Island nuclear plant accident occurred. Ira Einhorn, environmentalist, was charged with murder during the same period as one of the greatest environmental accidents in United States history.

But the real irony is that more people died in the apartment of Ira Einhorn, co-founder of Earth Day than at Three Mile Island. The environmentalist killed more people than the so-called environmental disaster.

Happy Earth Day."

American Power: Obama's Socialism in America: UPDATED!!

American Power: Obama's Socialism in America: UPDATED!!: "If the left understands anything, it is that in order for their ideology and its promised utopia to be born, they must thoroughly destroy America and undermine everything America stands for in the world. Once that has been accomplished, then their way is clear. Of course, they truly believe they will be able to control the Islamist genie they have encouraged, appeased and enabled along the way. That's why they are so nonchalant about terrorism and the threat of Islamic jihad. First, they see themselves on the same side politically; and second, they believe they won't have any trouble stopping the Jihad once they are in power. What's the big deal? They also intend to roll back the rising seas, stop global warming, and heal the planet, after all."

Another screw-up heard from: DemCare Bill forgot to include a religious exemption clause: "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as DemCare, has all sorts of hidden secrets. The immense and hastily drafted law, passed through the Senate on Christmas Eve with bribes aplenty, has hundreds of new mandates and some accidental omissions."

SEIU invested tens of millions on Obama and DemCare in order to replenish its woefully underfunded pensions -- on your dime

SEIU invested tens of millions on Obama and DemCare in order to replenish its woefully underfunded pensions -- on your dime: "The SEIU spent $85 million on Barack Obama's campaign and millions more on pushing for DemCare. Among its biggest rewards will be millions of medical civil servants -- and millions of new, dues-paying members. The Wall Street Journal's September 10, 2009 op-ed ('Read the Union Health-Care Label -- Get ready for Detroit-style labor relations in our hospitals'), describes state-run health care as opening 'the door to implement forced unionization schemes' by reclassifying in-home health-care (and child-care) contractors as union members."

Lori Swanson: Bush vs. the American citizen | StarTribune.com: "Last week the Bush administration prescribed a bad dose of medicine: the creation of new federal agencies that would diminish the ability of state governments to protect their citizens."

Guess what? Lori supports Obamacare now!

Congratulations, Taxpayer! You Own a Volt! - Henry Payne - Planet Gore on National Review Online

Congratulations, Taxpayer! You Own a Volt! - Henry Payne - Planet Gore on National Review Online: "As part of his oil drilling scheme Wednesday, President Obama also announced that Washington will “purchase the first 100 plug-in electric vehicles to roll off an American assembly line.” The only model that fits that description is the Chevy Volt. At $40,000 a pop, that’s another $4 million out of the taxpayer’s wallet."

American Thinker: Cloward-Piven Government

American Thinker: Cloward-Piven Government: "Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two lifelong members of Democratic Socialists of America who taught sociology at Columbia University (Piven later went on to City University of New York). In a May 1966 Nation magazine article titled 'The Weight of the Poor,' they outlined their strategy, proposing to use grassroots radical organizations to push ever more strident demands for public services at all levels of government."

Institute for Energy Research

Institute for Energy Research :Obama Energy Announcement: More Imported Oil, Less Domestic Production, Fewer Jobs: "Washington, DC – Earlier this morning, President Obama delivered remarks at Andrews Air Force Base on offshore energy exploration and production, and what a scene it was. While many newspapers and cable news pundits cheered the announcement as a positive development, we at the Institute for Energy Research caution lawmakers, the media, and the American people from rushing to conclusions until all the facts are on the table. This is a huge step backward for America’s energy security."
